Abe Durante is a 27-year Harnett County resident, small-business electrician, and ordained minister with a plan to bring good jobs, clean energy, flood protection, and fair pay for our teachers, police, and public servants to District 1.
“Changing Times Require Changing Tactics”
Abe Durante has called Harnett County home for nearly three decades. He built his life and his business right here in Erwin — and he's spent 40+ years as the hands-on owner of Denlin Electrical Service, wiring homes and businesses across the district he now wants to represent.
Abe holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and a Master of Arts in Applied Theology and Organizational Leadership. He is a North Carolina licensed Electrical Contractor and an Ordained Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ who believes every person in Harnett County deserves to be seen, heard, and served — regardless of party, background, or zip code.
He's also a proud father of three sons who have answered the call to serve: one is currently serving in the U.S. Air Force, one recently completed his service with the U.S. Marines, and the youngest reports to the U.S. Army at the end of the month. With sons in three branches of the military, the fight for better treatment and support for veterans isn't political for Abe — it's personal.
His promise: “I will listen, engage, attend and advocate for you. I will be available, approachable, honest and hardworking.”
Economic development is a starting goal for Abe: attracting new investment and creating more jobs — and better jobs — so families can build a future right here without leaving Harnett County to find opportunity.
As a career electrician, Abe knows the power grid of the future. He's pushing for solar energy development in Harnett County — bringing high-tech, clean-energy jobs and training to our workforce while powering our growth responsibly.
The Durante family serves: one son on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, one Marine veteran, and one reporting to the U.S. Army this month. Abe has seen firsthand what our veterans and their families sacrifice — and he will fight for better treatment, services, and support for every veteran who calls Harnett County home.
Fixing the Riverside water problem is a starting goal for Abe — clean, reliable water for that community — along with cleaning up Harnett County's waterways and investing in real flood-mitigation infrastructure to protect homes and farmland before the next storm.
Teachers, police officers, and public servants hold our communities together. Abe will advocate for the pay and respect they've earned, so Harnett County can recruit and keep the best people serving our families.
Abe supports stronger access to local food banks for residents facing food insecurity, and real solutions to homelessness and poverty across a district he calls “vast and diverse” in its needs.
Our kids deserve classrooms built for learning, not overcrowding. Abe will push for infrastructure and planning that keeps pace with Harnett County's growth.
Abe champions after-school and mentoring programs that help our young people grow into strong, productive, faith-rooted members of our community.
Abe isn't a career politician — he's a working man. For more than four decades he has run his own electrical contracting business, climbing ladders, pulling wire, and solving problems with his own two hands. When Abe tells you he'll do something, it comes with the standing of a man who has spent his life delivering real, tangible results — not campaign promises.
That perseverance is exactly what he'll bring to the Board of Commissioners. Abe is a change agent, not someone who will let things keep going as they always have without a fight. Harnett County doesn't need another seat-warmer — it needs a working man who shows up, digs in, and gets the job done for the people he serves.
“I want every person in Harnett County to know who Jesus is, and to know that He has a plan for each of us. That same conviction is why I will serve every resident of this district — faithfully, honestly, and without regard to party.”
— Abe Durante, Ordained Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ & Candidate for Harnett County Commissioner, District 1
Abe believes leadership happens on the ground — at community cookouts, church halls, and front porches across District 1, not just behind a desk. He is showing up, listening to neighbors, and bringing their concerns directly into his plan for the county.
District 1 is “vast and diverse,” in Abe's words — and he intends to represent every corner of it.
